Vandals kill neighbors' lawns with weed killer
WOODLAND, Wash. -- After all the hours and money you spend on getting your yard green, how'd you like to find vandals used weed killer to ruin it?
It's happening in Woodland where about half a dozen homes have a track-lane-sized path of dead grass cutting through their front yards. One neighbor on the corner says she's been dealing with vandals throwing weed killer on large patches of her yard for more than a month now.
"It became very apparent it wasn't just the sod dying, it was vandalism. And it started happening to the neighbors, and (it) became clear our neighborhood was a target," Jaime Villanueva told KATU.
Villanueva's been dealing with vandals destroying her yard with weed killer for more than a month now.
"I don't understand what the point is," Villanueva said. "This is a nice neighborhood. We want to keep it nice. I'm not sure what kind of satisfaction they're getting from destroying people's lawns, but it's really unnecessary."
Woodland police have received several reports but so far say they do not know who is responsible for the vandalism.
Neighbors who live across the street but haven't been targeted yet are worried who will be next.
"It might just be kids who think it's funny. I don't think it's funny at all," one neighbor said.
