Video: Police fire shotgun, stun gun to end standoff
PORTLAND, Ore. - Police fired a beanbag rounds and stun gun to end a standoff and save a suicidal woman's life in Southeast Portland Wednesday.
Officers tried to talk down a woman inside a house on SE 125th Avenue. The woman inside was holding a 12-inch butcher knife to her throat.
Officers fired four beanbag rounds to stop her from killing herself and fired a stun gun to subdue her. She was not seriously hurt.
Medics took her away in an ambulance.
Portland Police said suicide calls like this are fairly common. In 2011, officers responded to approximately 1,100 calls of people threatening suicide.
