Woman arrested after hitting man, driving off in SE Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Portland Police arrested a woman this morning after she hit a man with her car and drove off in southeast Portland.

21-year-old Jordan Jackson was lying down in the street when police arrived on scene. He had serious injuries and was taken to a Portland hospital, but he is expected to survive.

Witnesses said they saw a silver Volkswagen Beetle ram into Jackson and then drove off. A person told police there was a car matching that description in a parking lot at an apartment complex off 30th Ave. and Steele St. The car had extensive front end damage.

Police found 27-year-old Ariel Neuman in the complex and took her into custody and charged her with assault in the third degree, failure to perform the duties of a driver, (a hit-and-run charge) DUII and reckless driving.

She has been released from the Multnomah County Jail. There is no other information available at this time.
