Woman dies in trailer fire near Sandy
SANDY, Ore. - A 51-year-old woman died when a trailer she was in caught fire near Sandy Friday afternoon.
When firefighters first arrived at Barlow Trail Estates trailer park along Highway 211, neighbors told them a woman was inside a burning trailer.
Fire crews rushed into the trailer and found the woman unconscious inside, according to Deputy Fire Chief Phil Schneider.
"We did CPR and called LifeFlight," Schneider said. But the woman died before they were able to get her into the medical helicopter.
Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire a short time later. There were three cats and a dog inside the trailer as well. One cat was found dead and another is missing. The other cat and the dog were unharmed.
Fire investigators aren't yet sure what ignited the fire, although they do believe it started in the rear of the single-wide mobile home where the woman had been.
