Woman injured when semi rear-ends SUV
MADRAS, Ore. -- A 21-year-old woman was injured when a commercial truck slammed into the back of her SUV on Highway 97 Monday morning.
Police said the crash happened about five miles south of Madras at around 8 a.m.
Megan Erickson of Culver, Ore. was stopped on the highway as she prepared to turn onto Southwest Bear Drive when the truck hit her Ford Explorer from behind. The truck driver was distracted and didn't see the Explorer, police said. The impact forced the Explorer off the highway.
Medics took Erickson to a Bend hospital where she is recovering from her injuries. She's expected to survive.
Police cited the truck driver, David M. Mosebar, for careless driving. He was not hurt in the crash.
