Woman pulls girl, 6, from pool, saves her life

HAPPY VALLEY, Ore. - A woman pulled a 6-year-old girl from an apartment complex's pool Tuesday night, saving her from drowning.

Domiteala Galvez found the girl motionless at the bottom of the deep end of the pool at the Greenleaf Monterey Apartments, located at 8640 S.E. Causey Ave. in unincorporated Happy Valley at around 6 p.m., said Sgt. Nathan Thompson, spokesman for the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.

He said she got the girl out of the water and started performing CPR. The girl was at first unconscious and not breathing but had started breathing again and had regained consciousness by the time medics arrived.

The girl was taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. Thompson said she's in good condition.

He said the girl was at the pool with her cousins and had been properly supervised.

Galvez said she was trained in CPR and her training just took over.
