'Women's Strike' in Portland highlights pay gap on International Women's Day
Women across Portland walked out of work Thursday afternoon and gathered in Pioneer Square for the Women's Strike – held in solidarity with International Women's Day.
The strike was organized by the group Don't Shoot PDX, dubbing it "feminism for the 99 percent."
They called on women to walk out of their workplace at 4 p.m. to bring attention to the persistent pay gap, despite the hard work they put in at work, at home, and beyond.
They also hope to highlight sexual harassment in the workplace.
