A customer at Papé Machinery in Cornelius Thursday morning was injured by a forklift when it tipped over on him.

First responders were called to the factory on E Baseline Street around noon.

According to Cornelius Fire officials, the customer's leg was severely injured in the accident.

A fire official said an employee was using the forklift to load a row tiller the customer had purchased onto a trailer when the forklift high-centered on a ramp and tipped over. The customer was standing next to it.

Workers used another forklift to free the customer.

The customer is being hospitalized at a Portland trauma hospital.
