Baby lands in storm grate after car crash in Arkansas
TEXARKANA, Ark. (CBS12) — An 8-month-old miracle baby is out of the hospital after surviving a violent crash that sent her flying into a storm grate.
The crash happened Friday night Texarkana, Arkansas.
Investigators believe a semi clipped a car, sending the car carrying little girl and her family into a tailspin.
Authorities said the girl was in a car seat but it wasn't properly installed.
The impact sent the girl flying out of the car. Right after the crash, family members couldn't find her.
Paramedics found her under a patch of hay, sitting on top of a storm drain more than 25 feet away, according to CNN affiliate KSLA.
"She, more or less, had her hands up, waiting for someone to pick her up," said Capt. Charlie Smith with the Texarkana Fire Department.
"There's so many times we go out and things aren't okay, and just during the holidays to have a positive, just feels good," added Smith.
The family is from Hope, Arkansas.
Authorities ticketed the truck driver.
