Walking miracle: 13-year-old comes back to life after skull fractures
MOBILE Co., Al. (WSET) -- A 13-year-old boy from Mobile County, Alabama is being hailed a walking miracle after he literally came back from the dead.
Two months ago, Trenton McKinley, was in an accident that left him with several skull fractures.
According to WALA, he was rushed to the hospital where he needed two emergency surgeries to remove part of his skull, but the doctors told his parents that even if he survived, he would have minimal brain function.
Doctors declared him brain dead.
His parents made the decision to donate his organs and began the paperwork to take him off life support.
Just days before doctors pulled the plug, Trenton started showing signs of life.
"He was dead a total of 15 minutes," said Jennifer Reindl, Trenton's mother. "He's a miracle, and he just amazes everybody."
"There's no other explanation but God," Trenton said. "There's no other way."
The 13-year-old is now home recovering and is expected to have surgery again to reconnect part of his skull.
