Eagle Creek Fire Info shared a video Monday on social media showing what the burn area looks like from above.

The helicopter flew over popular areas such as Bridal Veil Falls, Angel's Rest and Multnomah Falls.

As of Monday, the fire had burned more than 48,000 acres and was 46 percent contained.

The Burned Area Emergency Response Team (BAER) released details of a map Sunday that showed how severely the soil had been scorched within the fire.

About 15 percent of the fire was considered “high burn severity,” which is more prone to erosion because the soil can’t absorb rain and water. More than half of the fire had a “low burn severity,” meaning that root systems and much of the ground cover survived.
