Officials: Parents filed false report in toddler shooting
WALTERBORO, S.C. (WCIV) -- Investigators said the parents of a 3-year-old shot in the leg on Saturday have changed their story.
Officials with the Colleton County Sheriff's Office reported on Tuesday that the parents have admitted the child was accidentally shot inside the residence, while in their presence.
On Saturday, the boy's 24-year-old father, Randy Aiken, said the child was playing with his brother and cousin outside on a trampoline when two gunshots were heard.
Aiken said he the heard his son crying and saw him bleeding in the backyard.
Officials said criminal charges may be sought against the parents and others as soon as all the facts and evidence are obtained and presented to the solicitor's office and court officials.
