Duck Baseball: No. 6 in Coaches Poll, 15th Baseball America

EUGENE, Ore. - When the Oregon Ducks open practice tomorrow for the 2013 baseball season, they will do so after being ranked in two more preseason top 25 polls.

USA Today and Baseball America released their preseason polls Thursday and the Ducks check in at No. 6 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and No. 15 in the Baseball America Poll.

The top 15 rankings are the third and fourth of the preseason for the Ducks, who were ranked No. 6 in the Collegiate Baseball Preseason Poll in December, and No. 10 in the Perfect Game Poll released earlier this week. Oregon won a school-record 46 games in 2012 before ending its season in the Super Regional in Eugene.

UO returns seven position player starters this season behind a pitching staff that features four returning starters and an All-American reliever. Jimmie Sherfy earned first-team All- America pre-season recognition by Louisville Slugger, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Perfect Game.

The Ducks open their season Feb. 15 against Hawaii in Honolulu. Oregon opens at PK Park on Friday, Feb. 22, after wrapping up the four-game series at Hawaii.

The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Last year's records do not include ties.
