Timbers train in the rain days ahead of start of season
BEAVERTON, Ore. —
The Timbers are four days away from the start of the MLS season. They take on the La Galaxy on Sunday in Carson, California.
The Timbers worked out Wednesday morning at their training center in Beaverton. It was a rainy morning but MLS MVP Diego Valeri and company are ready to get things going.
Perhaps nobody is more excited than the Timbers new head coach Giovanni Savarese. He played pro soccer for nearly 20 years and likes to take part in practice with the team. He's 46 now.
Savarese loves the game and he wants the team to work hard but enjoy it along the way.
“It’s a job, and everybody is a professional, and we have to prepare for the games, but also they need to enjoy. They need to have a good time while they’re training and that is very important. (It’s) important to enjoy while working hard,” he said.
