Your quick Ducks and Beavers bowl games preview
The Ducks land in the Alamo Bowl:
It's not the 5th straight BCS Bowl the Ducks were seeking, but after losing two of their final four games, the University of Oregon (10-2, 7-2 Pac 12) will face the University of Texas( 8-4, 7-2 Big 12) in the 21st Annual Valero Alamo Bowl Dec. 30 in San Antonio, Texas. It will be a 3:45 p.m. PST kickoff and televised on ESPN.
If this all sounds familiar, it could be because Oregon State faced Texas in the Alamo Bowl last season - a game Texas won 31-27.
For the 10th ranked Ducks, it's the first non-BCS bowl game since Oregon beat Oklahoma State 42-31 in the 2008 Holiday bowl.
The unranked Longhorns lost two of their final three games to No. 13 Oklahoma State and to No. 9 Baylor.
Most experts have installed the Ducks as two-touchdown favorites to win.
Aloha Oregon State:
The Beavers lost five straight games to end their season, and it earned them a trip to Hawaii.
Oregon State (6-6, 4-5 Pac 12) will face Boise State (8-4, 6-2 Mountain West) in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl on Dec. 24 at 5 p.m. PST in Honolulu. The game will be televised on ESPN.
The Beavers nearly ended their season on a high note versus their arch-rival Ducks; but instead, OSU lost a heartbreaker 36-35 in the final seconds. Still, the Broncos may have suffered a worse season-ending loss - their head coach. Chris Petersen abandoned Boise for a high-paying gig with the Washington Huskies last week.
The Beavers are slight favorites to win, led by the nation's 2nd leading passer in Sean Mannion (4,403 passing yards, 36 TD) and the nation's top receiver in Brandin Cooks (1,670 receiving yards, 15 TD).
