Catherine Van joined the KATU team as a general assignment reporter in October 2016. She's thrilled to be back in the Northwest after a 4-year stint in the desert.
Before KATU, Catherine spent four years in her hometown of Reno, NV at KOLO 8 News Now, where she started her broadcasting career as a multi-media journalist. There, she befriended the world's largest dog and covered some of the biggest stories that rattled the community.
Catherine received her Bachelor or Arts degree in broadcast journalism and advertising in 2012 from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA. Go Zags!
Catherine believes that journalism keeps the world honest. She has a passion for story-telling and is inspired by the human impact of each story. She loves the challenge that each day brings and wants to make a difference in her community.
When Catherine is not covering the news, you can find her hiking on the trails, rallying on the tennis courts, harmonizing to the radio, and cheering on the Zags.
If you have a story idea you'd like to send Catherine, e-mail her at CVan@katu.com.
