Chris Liedle made the 100-mile move from Eugene to Portland and joined the KATU team in the fall of 2015 as a general assignment reporter. Chris previously worked for KVAL-TV and brings with him three years of experience and knowledge of Oregon news.
While at KVAL, Chris covered high-profile sexual assault cases at the University of Oregon. He revealed overpayment mistakes by the Social Security Administration in Eugene, returning thousands of dollars to those affected. Chris dropped into Lane County's largest illegal, outdoor marijuana grow in 2013. The massive, $40 million seizure attracted the attention from CBS News and CNN.
Before moving to Oregon, Chris worked as a surf reporter for KSWB in San Diego. He filmed 30-second beach reports for the Fox 5 morning show.
Chris graduated from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles with a B.A. in History. He is a native San Diegan.
He worked as an ocean lifeguard for six years for the City of Del Mar and is credited with more than 150 rescues. He competed in state lifeguard championships and was featured on the Weather Channel's docudrama, "Lifeguard! Southern California."
Chris considers Portland his new home. He has affection for the outdoors and spends most of his time on the trail backpacking or in the chilly Oregon waters surfing. Chris is devoted to giving the community a voice and committed to the On Your Side name.
