Keaton Thomas joined KATU News as a general assignment reporter in July 2016.
He is happy to be in the Pacific Northwest after moving from Tucson, Arizona.
Keaton loves reporting because he gets to learn something new every day. His favorite stories to tell revolved around people. To him, a great interview makes for a compelling story no matter what the topic is.
If Keaton wasn't a journalist though, he would most definitely have been a scientist or engineer. Because of that interest, he loves telling stories about science and technology.
Before joining KATU News, Keaton was a reporter and multi-media journalist at KGUN9 news in Tucson. He also reported for WLNS in Lansing, Michigan telling stories in and around the state capital.
Keaton received his degree in journalism from Northwestern University. He grew up in California but his mother will tell you the family is from Denver -- that's part of the reason why he is a big Denver Broncos fan.
Keaton is an avid golfer, having played his whole life, but enjoys all sports. He has always lived out west and is looking forward to exploring Oregon.
He would love to hear from you and answer questions and concerns in your community.
