Asian Style Sloppy Joes w/ Kimchi Broccoli Slaw

  • 1 1/2 pound Ground beef
  • 1 Onion Diced
  • 1 Cup Celery Diced
  • 1 Cup Bell Pepper Diced
  • 3 Garlic cloves Minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger chopped
  • 2 1/2 Tablespoons Sambal Oelek
  • 1 Cup Hoisin Sauce
  • 1 Can diced tomatoes
  • 2 limes juiced
  • 2 Tablespoons oil
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

In large skillet heat oil over medium-high heat and add garlic, onion, celery & bell pepper. Cook until softened then add ground beef and cook until browned. At this point you will just add the sambal, hoisin sauce, diced tomatoes, salt and pepper and lime juice stir in pan until combined and lower heat to medium/medium-low to let sauce reduce a bit. No need to let cool, just add to buns, top with kimchi broccoli slaw and serve.

Kimchi Broccoli slaw

  • 1 bag of broccoli slaw mix
  • 1 Cup KimChi diced
  • 1/2 Cup Mayo
  • 1 Tablespoon Sambal Oelek
  • Juice of 1 lime

Mix together all ingredients in bowl and season with salt and pepper. You can use spicier Kimchi if that is to you liking. Also adding sugar can help cut down some of the acid and add a sweetness to it. If you want to make your own slaw mix, simply take a cup each of broccoli stems, carrots & red cabbage and julienne.
