• Eggs: Look for local, USDA organic, certified humane, pasture-raised or grass-fed (great resource ASPC - American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals)
• Chicken: Look for lean cuts, no antibiotics or hormones, USDA organic, grass-fed or pasture-raised, local (great resource EWG - Environmental Working Group)
• Seasonal vegetables- artichoke, asparagus, rhubarb
• Support local farmers by shopping at the Portland Farmer's Market or other local markets, buying small-batch, handmade, local products with low carbon footprint
