Carlie Steele, a 14-year-old from Amity, just returned from the National Youth Activist Awards in Nashville.

She was a finalist in the category for the humanitarian award because of her mission to change the world with kindness.

“Even though I didn’t win the grand prize, it was such a great opportunity to meet kids who love spreading kindness as much as I do,” Carlie told KATU’s Deb Knapp during an appearance on KATU News Wednesday.

Carlie started Carlie’s Kindness Campaign, a nonprofit organization, when she was 9 years old.

“We come up with new and exciting projects for different causes and ultimately teach people how to do kind things,” she said.
