Voodoo Doughnut pays R-E-S-P-E-C-T to ‘Queen of Soul,’ Aretha Franklin
PORTLAND, Ore. - Aretha Franklin, the undisputed Queen of Soul, passed away on Thursday, and several people took to social media to pay tribute to the music icon.
In true Portland fashion, Voodoo Doughnut put together an edible homage to Franklin.
Franklin's matchless style on such classics as "Think," ''I Say a Little Prayer," and "Respect" made her stand as a cultural icon around the globe.
She died Thursday at 9:50 a.m. at her home in Detroit. In a statement, her publicist Gwendolyn Quinn said, "Franklin's official cause of death was due to advance pancreatic cancer."
