3 dead, 3 injured in crash on I-5 near Kalama, Wash.
Three family members died and three others were injured Saturday in rollover crash on Interstate 5 outside Kalama, Washington State Patrol said.
The crash happened about 4:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-5.
WSP troopers say a mother was driving an SUV with her parents and her three kids inside when the vehicle left the road.
Five of the people inside the vehicle weren't wearing seatbelts and were thrown from the car, according to officials.
A young girl and both grandparents died in the collision.
Troopers think the driver got distracted and then swerved into the median to avoid hitting someone.
A witness, Traci Swett tells KATU News the car jetted across the median and went into a spin before rolling over.
Swett said she tried to save the girl, but couldn't.
A second child was flown to the hospital in critical condition. The mom and the third child were also hurt.
