PORTLAND, Ore. — Local non-profit Abby's Closet is hosting its 13th annual 'Prom Gown Giveaway' this weekend at the Oregon Convention Center.

The two-day event gives high school girls a chance to find the dress of their dreams, for free.

Since its start in 2004, Abby’s Closet has given away more than 20,000 dresses to students in Oregon and Southwest Washington.

Last year, their selection included more than 8,000 dresses ranging in sizes from 0-26. Each dress was donated to Abby's Closet throughout the year by various retail shops and generous supporters across the country.

Attendees can also select an accessory, at no cost.

High school students must have their student ID or proof of registration to receive a free dress.

The event is free and open to the public from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday, March 18, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19.
