Astoria Police search for missing and endangered woman
ASTORIA, Ore. – The Astoria Police Department is searching for a missing and endangered woman who was last seen in downtown Astoria Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, 29-year-old Maya Sanders’ mother called and reported her missing at around 4 p.m. Police say she was last seen at about 1:30 p.m. crossing Marine Drive at 16th Street.
Police say they found some of Sanders’ belongings at 6th Street and they found a scarf near the Comfort Suites on the Riverwalk.
Officers said she may have been walking eastbound toward her home in the Burnside area.
Police are aware that Sanders suffers from disabilities that could put her at a higher risk if she isn’t found. She is not dressed for the weather and does not have her cell phone.
Sanders was last seen wearing a long shirt that is black, white, and green. She had on pink shoes. She is about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds.
