Beaverton police searching for armed suspect

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Beaverton police say they were unable to locate an armed suspect early Thursday morning.

Officers responded to a reported attempted carjacking and robbery on Southwest 117th Avenue at 11:21 p.m.

The victim told investigators he had stopped his car south of the MAX tracks and was playing games on his cellphone when a man opened his door and pointed a gun at him.

The suspect demanded the victim give him his money and his car.

The victim said he told the suspect he didn’t have any money. He also noticed there were a few people walking in the area and the suspect saw them too.

When the suspect noticed the passersby, he ran away and the victim called 911.

The victim described the suspect as a thin, Asian man who’s about 5 feet 5 inches tall. He said the man was wearing a dark gray patterned hoodie and jeans.

Police searched for the armed suspect in the area of Walker Road and Highway 217 with a Washington County Sheriff’s Office K-9 team.

But, they were unable to locate the suspect and called off the search just after 1 a.m.
