Bicyclist sustains life-threatening injuries in Northwest Portland crash
PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Police Bureau says a bicyclist suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash with a vehicle Tuesday morning.
The crash occurred in the 2700 block of Northwest Nicolai Street at 8:04 a.m.
When officers and emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene, they found an injured man and a bicycle on the ground. Medics say the man suffered what appear to be serious, life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash.
The man was transported to a hospital by ambulance.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
Police believe the bicyclist exited a parking lot, traveled into the eastbound lane of Northwest Nicolas Street and crashed into a passing truck.
Officers will close the street between Northwest 27th Avenue and Northwest 29th Avenue for the next three to four hours during the investigation.
