Car strikes, kills pedestrian near Cornelius, traffic impacted
A driver struck and killed a pedestrian Friday night, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened at TV Highway and 334th Avenue.
According to the sheriff's office, it had received calls around 9 p.m. about a pedestrian walking in the street. The pedestrian, a male, had just been struck when a deputy showed up. The deputy tried to save the pedestrian's life, but he died at the scene.
The sheriff’s office said the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
All lanes have been shut down at the crash scene.
