Child rapist sentenced to 50 years in prison
HILLSBORO, Ore. - A convicted sexual abuser was sentenced to 50 years in prison on Tuesday, the Washington County District Attorney’s Office said.
The investigation into Jose David Satey-Sanchez, now 41 years old, began back in 2014 when a 9-year-old girl told her mother she was being abused. The mother didn’t believe the allegations, however, the girl’s teacher overheard her talking about the crimes and told authorities.
The girl’s mother “refused to make Satey-Sanchez leave their home,” so the girl was put in foster care, the DA's office said.
The district attorney’s office said the girl was returned to her mother’s custody in 2015 after she recanted her claims – under the advisement of her mother. Authorities said Satey-Sanchez continued to sexually abuse the victim during that time, even though there were court orders barring him from having contact with her.
The district attorney’s office said Satey-Sanchez raped the child for the first time in 2017. The abuse was immediately reported and experts from CARES Northwest found her allegations credible. A rape kit test also confirmed Satey-Sanchez’s DNA.
After he was convicted on 13 counts of sexual abuse-related charges, Washington County Judge Janelle Wipper sentenced Satey-Sanchez to 600 months in prison.
“The Washington County District Attorney’s Office would like to acknowledge the work of our partners at the Hillsboro Police Department, the Oregon State Police Forensics Laboratory, and CARES Northwest for their assistance on this challenging case.”
