Tim Boyle, a 1971 journalism graduate of the University of Oregon and CEO of Columbia Sportswear, donated $10 million to develop the school's life sciences research.

The gift will fund Oregon's aquatic animal care facility, fund the acquisition of new tools and expand facilities for genomics research.

"Tim and Mary Boyle, through this generous gift, are supporting our scientists to do work that will change the world," UO President Michael Schill said. "This investment in our future helps fuel our strategic effort to grow our research capabilities and supports the facilities, equipment and resources our faculty members and scientists need. Not everyone would make a gift to support the basic sciences in the way that Tim and Mary Boyle have done. We're incredibly grateful."

Boyle's gift is the largest donation University of Oregon has ever received to enhance its aquatic animal care facility.
