Police: Driver flees fiery crash in Northeast Portland, passenger seriously injured

PORTLAND, Ore. – A crashed car caught fire in Northeast Portland Thursday morning. Police say the driver fled the scene and the passenger was seriously injured.

Emergency personnel responded to the crash shortly after 1:15 a.m. on Northeast 162nd Avenue and Northeast Sandy Boulevard.

Police say a driver was speeding when he or she lost control of the vehicle and crashed.

The passenger, a woman, was ejected from the vehicle. The driver fled the scene.

Police have not located the driver. They say the passenger was transported to a hospital with serious injuries, but is expected to survive.
