The National Park Service is advising Mazama Village visitors and residents to be ready to evacuate because of a nearby wildfire.

The Blanket Creek Fire was started July 26 by lightning.

Officials say there are no mandatory evacuations at this time and Rim Village, Park headquarters and other park areas are not affected by the Level 1 notice. The fire, however, has forced the closures of some trails.

The notice went into effect at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Authorities say crews will be at Mazama Village to create a defensible space. They are also working to set up an area in the southeast corner of the park to serve as a containment line.

The park also has Facebook and Twitter pages.
