Deputy shoots at advancing driver at Mitchell Point trailhead in the Gorge
Oregon State Police said a Hood River County sheriff’s deputy stopped to check on a vehicle Monday afternoon when the driver drove at him.
It happened at the Mitchell Point trailhead in the Columbia River Gorge west of Hood River.
The deputy, outside of his patrol car, opened fire. The driver crashed into the cruiser and then careened down an embankment.
The driver was arrested. Nobody was hurt.
