#DisarmPSU protests against armed security on campus
PORTLAND, Ore. - Some students are rallying for a gun-free Portland State University on Wednesday, protesting the school's choice to put firearms in the hands of campus security.
PSU's Student Union is heading the Disarm PSU campaign, which met at the park blocks near the school.
Some of the campus officers started carrying guns on July 1.
Students with the Disarm PSU group said that having firearms on campus will not make them feel any safer.
"I don't believe a gun deters sexual violence. A gun is not going to save me," Olivia Pace, a member of the student union, told KATU News at a previous rally.
Portland State hasn't responded to Wednesday's demonstration; however a university spokesperson has previously said the actions will not change their decision.
