Dog burned in acid attack healing in Portland, almost ready for adoption

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Though his name is Zeus, a dog burned in a brutal acid attack doesn't feel all that mighty.

The organization Special Needs Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation helped get Zeus from the streets of Egypt where he was attacked. Someone took the dog to a veterinarian in Egypt, then someone got in touch with SNARR.

The organization placed Zeus in a foster home in Portland with Jill Natowitz.

"The first pictures I saw of him, he was basically missing the skin on his back," Natowitz said.

He still has stitches and hasn't regained all of his strength, but Natowitz said his recovery has been remarkable.

"It's a joy to watch him running and playing with the other dogs," Natowitz told KATU.

Natowitz said Zeus is just about ready for adoption .
