How's that earthquake survival kit coming along?

The Cascadia Subduction Zone is a "megathrust" fault that stretches from Vancouver Island to northern California. It's only a matter of time before this fault produces magnitude 9.0 or greater earthquake.

Remember a couple of years ago, when that New Yorker article called The Really Big One freaked everyone out in the Northwest and got people thinking about the importance of having an earthquake survival kit? Remember how that only lasted for about a week, then most people got distracted by something else?

Even if you started putting your family's earthquake survival kit together, odds are you didn't finish. Which means you won't have everything you'll need to survive in the post-earthquake disaster zone that your neighborhood (or town or city or state) could become.

Seriously. The Big One is coming. It could knock out water, power, and emergency services for weeks. You need to stock up, and do it sooner than later.

KATU News has a special report on what you need in your earthquake kit, so you can and your family can survive. And putting a kit together might be easier than you think!
