Driver crashes stolen car into NE Portland home

PORTLAND, Ore. – A man is in the hospital after police say he crashed a stolen SUV into a Northeast Portland house on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers were called out about 3:30 p.m. on reports that a vehicle had crashed into a house on NE 68th Avenue.

They arrived to find a white Toyota Rav4 on its side, and a significantly damaged duplex.

Witnesses told officers they saw the vehicle speeding west on E Burnside Street, and that three other men ran from the crash scene, leaving the driver behind.

The driver suffered serious injuries in the crash, however, he is expected to survive.

After further investigation, police learned that the Rav4 had been reported as stolen.
