Albany Police say a woman struck a 5-month-old puppy while it was being walked by its owner last month, then fled the scene.

The dog's owner told police she was walking her puppy on the sidewalk in front of the KFC restaurant around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17. A woman in an older-model black Honda Civic hit the dog while the pair were crossing the drive way.

Police say the driver told the dog's owner she would follow her to an emergency vet clinic to sort everything out, but she never showed up.

The dog owner didn't obtain the driver's name or license plate, and there's no surveillance footage of the incident.
