SEASIDE, Ore. – Four law enforcement agencies worked together to stop a driver during a high-speed pursuit that started in Seaside Monday.

According to the Clatsop County District Attorney’s Office, Seaside Police officers tried to pull over a driver who was speeding and driving erratically on Highway 26 at 4:30 a.m.

Officers chased the vehicle northbound on Highway 101.

But, with the driver’s speed and the road and rainy weather conditions, police decided to abandon the pursuit.

The Warrenton Police Department and Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office began following the driver as he continued north at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour in the dark.

The district attorney said the suspect vehicle lost a tire going the wrong way through the roundabout while coming into Astoria.

The driver eventually crashed after the Astoria Police Department spikestripped the vehicle.

The suspect then fled the scene on foot and was soon arrested.

The district attorney identified the suspect as 27-year-old Garrett L. Pruitt-Rexroad. He was arrested on charges of attempting to elude, driving under the influence of intoxicants, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, reckless driving and four counts of recklessly endangering.

Police found a purse with about 50 stolen credit cards inside the suspect vehicle.

The Warrenton Police Department is investigating the case.

Anyone with information should contact Sgt. Jim Pierce with the Warrenton Police Department at 503-861-2235.
