Family of pregnant woman killed by fallen tree sues land owner, Multnomah County for $9.5M
The family of a pregnant woman who was killed by a fallen tree last year is suing Multnomah County and the land owners from whose property the tree fell for $9.5 million.
Kristi Leigh Oliver was driving her SUV along SE Oxbow Drive the morning of March 1, 2016 when a tall cedar tree on the side of the road broke in two.
One of the pieces hit the driver's side, killing Oliver and her unborn child. The trees stood on the land of Mark and Jill Harrington, who are named in the lawsuit, who were aware of the poor conditions of the trees on their property.
The lawsuit claims Multnomah County officials would not let the Harringtons remove the trees, and claims negligence on the part of the Harringtons and the county.
