Fatal crash closes stretch of Southwest Hillsboro Highway

HILLSBORO, Ore. – A passenger was killed in a crash on Southwest Hillsboro Highway shortly after midnight Tuesday, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded to the single-vehicle crash on Southwest Hillsboro Highway near Southwest Morilon Lane at 12:30 a.m.

Investigators say Jacob Haliburton, 21, of Hillsboro, was ejected from the vehicle when the driver left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

The driver, a 19-year-old from Hillsboro, was taken to a local trauma hospital and is expected to survive. A second passenger, and 18-year-old from Beaverton, was treated at the scene.

Southwest Hillsboro Highway was closed between Southwest Wood Street and Southwest Tongue Lane for several hours while the inter-agency Washington County Crash Analyst Reconstruction Team investigated the crash. The highway reopened around 6 a.m.
