Father, aunt charged in 15-month-old's methadone overdose death
PORTLAND, Ore. – A father is facing murder charges nearly three years after his 15-month-old daughter died of a methadone overdose.
Homicide detectives arrested Darian Lee McWoods on several charges Wednesday, including two counts of murder and criminally-negligent homicide. His sister, Diamond McWoods is also facing charges for giving false information to investigators.
Darian’s 15-month-old daughter Kamaya Flores died on December 17, 2013. The state medical examiner ruled her cause of death was methadone toxicity.
After a three-year investigation, detectives gathered enough evidence to charge McWoods with his daughter’s death.
Darian McWoods was booked into the Multnomah County jail on 2 counts of murder, 3 counts of first-degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, first-degree criminal mistreatment, and tampering with a witness.
Diamond McWoods is facing perjury, tampering, and false swearing.
