BEND, Ore. – The father of a baby found alone in the woods near Bend was booked in the Deschutes County Jail Monday.

Brandon Michael Blouin, 25, faces charges of second-degree child neglect, abandonment of a child, first-degree custodial interference, endangering the welfare of a minor, and first-degree criminal mistreatment.

He’s accused of leaving his 1-year-old son naked and alone for hours in the woods near Bend. Blouin told investigators he had gone to look for the boy’s mother.

He will be arraigned on May 21.

The Deschutes County Circuit Court also issued a pre-trial no contact order saying Blouin is not allowed to contact the baby or the child’s mother.

According to court documents, the baby’s legal guardian is his maternal grandmother. Blouin is accused of taking the child away from the woman without legal authority.

The court documents say Blouin knowingly deserted the baby and intended to abandon him and was keeping him in a place where illegal controlled substances were being used.

Authorities say Blouin was living in an SUV.
