LONGVIEW, Wash. – A wall fire at a Longview apartment complex displaced three families Wednesday night.

Longview Police and Fire responded to a wall fire at an apartment unit at 1915 Dorothy Avenue in Longview at 5:45 p.m.

When crews arrived, they were told the fire was out and that it was caused by some “hot work” while plumbing.

Crews entered the smoke-filled, first-floor unit and determined the fire was still actively burning in the wall. Additional crews were assigned to the adjacent unit and the units above the fire. Four apartment units were filled with smoke, indicating the fire was still active.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the hidden fire by attacking it from both lower units.

The fire did not spread vertically to the upstairs units, but there was significant smoke damage to the waste plumbing system in the unit above the fire.

The fire displaced three families. The Red Cross is assisting them.

No one was injured.
