A homeowner returning from the grocery store Monday night found her house on fire, according to Clackamas Fire officials.

She didn't go into the home, but she opened the front door so her two dogs could escape.

Firefighters were called out about 6 p.m. on reports of a “large house fire” on Mt. Scott Boulevard.

No animals or pets were injured in the fire.

Firefighters said the house was fully involved, which forced them to take up defensive positions to fight it.

The house was 4,000 square feet.

Investigators are working to determine what caused the fire.
