Firefighters save four pets, after garage catches fire in Milwaukie

Clackamas Fire responded to a garage fire in Milwaukie Saturday afternoon, on Orville road at the cross of Risley and Concord.

There was nobody in the structure at the time of the fire.

Fire crews had to contend with a down power line which energized parts of the home, and say the fire was stubborn due to a large amount of belongings.

There were no human injuries, and fire officials were able to rescue three dogs and one cat. One dog died in the fire.

Investigators say the fire started in the garage. They will be back tomorrow to stabilize the building.

Disaster responders with the Red Cross are assisting the affected family.
