UPDATE: Snowboarder dead after attempting to jump over Bogus Basin Road, hit by SUV

A snowboarder died Saturday evening after he was hit by an SUV while trying to jump over Bogus Basin Road.

Officials tell CBS 2 News that Shea Helmick, 32, of Meridian, was snowboarding outside the boundary of Bogus Basin Ski Resort when he attempted to jump over Bogus Basin Road.

A juvenile was driving northbound on Bogus Basin Road in a Hummer. Helmick was struck by the SUV.

Helmick was transported via ground ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where he later died.

The juvenile driver and his juvenile passenger were not transported and were both wearing seatbelts.

Bogus Basin Road was blocked for approximately three hours.
