Intel reserves parking spaces for ReachNow vehicles to better serve employees
HILLSBORO, Ore. – The car sharing service ReachNow is expanding west of Portland to better serve Intel employees.
The company now has 23 designated car spaces on the Intel campuses. ReachNow expanded to the west side of Portland in the fall.
The parking spaces at Intel are near the main entrances at the different campuses.
The company has been running a pilot program for the past 2 to 3 months and it’s working for Intel’s 20,000 employees.
ReachNow’s CEO, Steve Banfield, said they want to give people the choice to do what works for them.
“Taking the train or taking the bus or biking and then deciding, ‘Oh, you know what? It’s raining this evening. I don’t want to be out on my own. I want a car. I have some other need.’ You just create these different options and capabilities for people,” Banfield said.
It costs $0.41 a minute to rent the ReachNow BMWs or Mini Coopers.
Drivers can also pay by the hour, by the day or for multiple days.
Banfield said they are currently talking to other big companies west of Portland to add even more car sharing options.
