It's been 25 years since Katie Eggleston vanished
Friday marks the 25th anniversary of one of Portland’s best known cold cases.
Katie Eggleston, a 22-year-old Oregon State University graduate, lived with her sister in Gresham in 1993 when she vanished.
Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson remembers the case well, because he went to college with her.
“I would have never imagined at that time looking ahead 25 years that I would be talking about that case,” he said. “Our detectives at the time worked every lead they had and really came up with nothing other than to believe that something happened to her.”
Eggelston’s VW turned up at Northeast 122nd and Airport Way five days after she disappeared.
