Jury finds firefighter not guilty of sexual abuse charges
BENTON COUNTY, Ore. – A jury found a man not guilty to one count of second-degree sexual abuse and two counts of third-degree sexual abuse Wednesday.
Carlos Villa-Garcia was participating in the Junior Fire Program at Monroe Rural Fire Protection when he was arrested on charges on the charges in December 2017.
A lawsuit alleges that Villa-Garcia, who was also a coach at the local public high school at the time, abused a victim when she was 14 or 15 years old. The lawsuit was seeking $3.5 million in damages.
